Blair Jarvis is principal data science consultant to BlackLine, with a doctorate in experimental social psychology. His primary specializations are in research design, methods, machine learning, and advanced statistical analyses. Dr. Jarvis also has expertise in the psychology of attitude assessment and persuasion, and in the creation of software and hardware for conducting psychological and opinion-based research. Additional areas of expertise include advanced data collection methods, complex data mining and analysis, consumer psychology, cognitive psychology, business administration, and finance.

In 1998, Dr. Jarvis founded Empirisoft Corporation and developed software and hardware for psychological research used in more than 3,000 labs in 80+ countries around the world. He has professional and consulting experience in the areas of data science, questionnaire design and construction, public/political opinion research, market/data analysis, product testing and evaluation, and the assessment of persuasive appeals and strategies.

Dr. Jarvis has published research in leading journals and presented at major conferences in the field. His research on the dynamics of attitude change won the best dissertation award by the Society for Experimental Social Psychology, and he served as an honored postdoctoral fellow at the Annenberg Public Policy Center at the University of Pennsylvania, managing research program on real world public health challenges.
